Your 2-Day Toubkal Base Camp Itinerary

Day 1: Imlil (1740m) → Toubkal Refuge (3207m) – 5–6 hours trek

Morning pickup from your Marrakech accommodation, drive 1.5h to Imlil. Meet your guide and mule team. Begin ascent through the Mizane Valley, passing shrines, waterfalls, and traditional Berber hamlets. Gradual climb with stunning views. Arrive at the Toubkal Refuge (CAF or similar) for dinner and overnight. Enjoy hearty tagine and starry skies.

Day 2: Sunrise near Base Camp → Return trek to Imlil

Early wake-up (optional) for a short walk above the refuge to catch the first light hitting North Africa's highest peak. Enjoy breakfast with panoramic views. Then descend back to Imlil (approx 4 hours), taking a different path through the valley. Celebrate with mint tea in Imlil before driving back to Marrakech, arriving around 5 PM.

Yes! The Toubkal Base Camp trek is designed for light adventure. You need a reasonable fitness level (able to hike 5-6 hours uphill), but no technical climbing or prior high-altitude experience is required. Our guides set a steady pace.

❓ What is the altitude, and will I get altitude sickness? +

The refuge sits at 3,207m. Most people feel mild effects like shortness of breath or light headache. We ascend gradually, drink plenty of water, and the guide monitors everyone. Acclimatization is built into the itinerary.

❓ What should I pack for the 2-day trek? +

Essentials: sturdy hiking boots, daypack (25-30L), warm layers (fleece, down jacket for evening), waterproof jacket, hat & gloves, sun protection, reusable water bottle, headlamp, and personal toiletries. Sleeping bag optional (refuge provides blankets).

❓ Can I do this trek in winter (December–March)? +

Yes, winter treks are possible but require microspikes/crampons (provided upon request). The landscape is magical with snow, but temperatures drop below freezing. Contact us for winter gear advice.

❓ Do I need a mule for my luggage? +

Mules are included to carry your main bag (max 8kg). You only need to carry a small daypack with water, camera, and layers. This makes the trek much more enjoyable.
